HOW TO LOWER YOUR TAXES USING GO ZONE DEPRECIATION & REAL ESTATE INVESTING

Assume that you purchased 10 units in a go zone designated area and the purchase price of the property was $1.3 million, of which $1 million was improvements.
  • In this scenario, you would be eligible to deduct 50% of the depreciable assets in the first year that you place the property in service, or 50% or $1 million which equals $500,000. That $500,000 deduction would be available to you to offset against taxable income in year 1. Please note this is an example to demonstrate how go zone tax reduction strategies would work and all deductions and exemptions would have to be confirmed by a competent CPA familiar with strategies to lower taxes using go zone investments.
